When planning a successful storyline and post, it is crucial to have a good idea of the world surrounding your characters. Here is just a little bit of information to help you on your way.
conditions
Being set in a fictional location, vivacious has it's fair share if diverse conditions. Although relatively mild, occasional drastic weather conditions can be seen. Some of these include:
- droughts
- hurricanes
- floods
- plagues
- tornadoes
- earthquakes
However, like previously mentioned, seasons are usually quite stable. The following is a brief description of each season:
- summer: is the hottest time during the year. The sun rises early and sets late. Temperatures can range from anywhere between blistering hot and comfortably warm. Mornings are usually warm and sunny, developing into a hotter, brighty-sunned day. About every two weeks a thunder storm hits as this area experiences most of its rainfall in summer. Summer is also a time of abundance as trees are heavy with matured fruit and fields are planted full of grown produce. This also means that prey is in abundance due t the amount of food available to them.
- autumn: is a fairly mild season. The days are shorter than in summer yet they are still not as short as winter. Temperatures are usually quite pleasant, with early mornings and late evening being quite cool whereas mid-mornings and afternoons are comfortably sunny and warm. Perhaps the most striking feature of this season are the leaves which turn orange and fall from their trees. Autumn is also the time where summer's produce is harvested, making prey a little less available due to shortening food supplies.
- winter: is the harshest season of all. Temperatures drop dramatically and it becomes difficult to keep warm. During this time, the days are fairly short and only allow for a few hours of daylight. However nights are long and can become even colder. Occasionally, snow will fall in anything from a light drizzling of snowflakes to treacherous snowstorms. As presumed, prey is very scarce during this season and most dogs will have to find other means to satisfy their ravenous hunger.
- spring: is one of the best seasons. When winter has left us, spring brings hope an new life. Days are warm and enjoyable and nights are no longer as cold or as long. Temperatures can vary but in general are warm and enjoyable. The best thing about spring is the dawning of new life. Flowers bloom and babies are born. During this time, prey is abundant as the birthing season of many prey animals mean vulnerable young ones.
how to survive
Food and sustenance is often something that is overlooked when role playing. Here at vivacious there are various means as how to obtain that food. Having wild blood running through their veins, most dogs are able to hunt (some better than others). The various wild areas of vivacious provide adequate hunting grounds for packs. The prey items that are usually found on vivacious are:
- rabbits and hares
- birds
- rats and mice
- deer
Being set in both a rural and suburban area, humans and other means of food are also available to these canines.
- pet food provided by people
- trash found in dumpsters
- shoplifting grocery stores
- other pets such as rabbits, Guinea pigs and birds
threats
Another important factor to take into consideration is that dogs and wolves are not the only predators out there. Wild animals such as the following can be seen in the lands of vivacious:
- mountain lions
- foxes
- raccoons
As well as these natural threats, canines can also come into contact with some unnatural threats that can be equally, if not more serious, unnatural competition. Some of the following can prove problematic:
- unruly humans
- dog catchers
- cars
As well as these, there are also other threats that can be found in the form of both natural and unnatural causes. These may be things that canines have to deal with in everyday life. Some of these threats include:
- house cats
- diseases
